WHO IS JOSEPH SAMMUT?

Dr. Joseph Sammut is the son of Dorothy nee Darmanin from Valletta and Carmelo Sammut from Zurrieq.  Joseph is married to Sonia nee Falzon and they have a son Jordan.

Joseph obtained a Doctor of Laws Degree in 1993.  He has been a practicing Lawyer for over 25 years. He was elected for 19 years to The Maltese House of Representatives on the Labour Party ticket in 1998, 2003, 2008 and again in 2013.  He was a Shadow Minister for Transport and Maritime Affairs. He was a Spokesperson for the Self Employed and Spokesperson for The Housing Authority and Agriculture and Fisheries.

He is currently the Executive Director for SMM Consultancy Services Limited and also their Senior Legal Advisor.  Joseph was responsible for the setting up of his Legal Office and its transformation into a prominent Legal Firm SMM Consultancy Services Limited.  He is responsible for the general administration of SMM Group which specialises in;
Corporate, Citizenship and Residency Schemes, Employment and Industrial Relations, Tax, Visitor Visas, Maritime, Shipping and Super Yachts

He is the Senior Legal Advisor to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM).  Joseph actively participated within the Council of Europe and IPU. He is a Member on the Financial Services Tribunal and Legal Consultant for The Ministry for the Economy & Small Industry.  He was also a member on the Committee for Planning & the Environment. He was also the Founder and councillor for the Zurrieq local council and President for Zurrieq Civic Council.

Nineteen years in Parliament and twenty five years in the Legal profession during which Joseph ALWAYS remained close to the electorate as he sincerely believes that political activism brings the desired changes in our society.  He has always chosen to stand-up for what he believes to be the best interest for all the people of the Maltese Islands.
